Perdue Also Donates Six-Month Supply Of Chicken to Help Feed Homeless

Salisbury, Md. (Thursday, October 10, 2019) – As part of a company commitment to strengthen our communities, Perdue Farms has awarded a $100,000 Franklin P. and Arthur W. Perdue Foundation grant to enable Hope and Life Outreach (HALO) Ministries to expand bathroom and shower facilities at HALO’s homeless shelter. Perdue also delivered a six-month supply of chicken to help serve those in need through the HALO Café.

“Having the support of Perdue and the Foundation is a blessing. Their very generous monetary donation will allow us to begin moving towards the building of showers and additional restrooms for our men’s shelter,” said Celeste Savage, founder and executive director of HALO ministries. “Not only have they graciously provided six months worth of chicken for our café, they also have a team of associate volunteers who serve in the café monthly. We are so thankful for Perdue, its Foundation, and for the individuals who are committed to giving back not just to HALO, but to this community.”

HALO is a non-profit, faith-based organization providing a homeless shelter for men, women and children, and life-recovery programs and services to deliver a hand up to those in need in Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester counties.

The Perdue grant supports HALO’s “Building A Foundation of Hope: Hungry, Homeless and Hopeless No More” capital campaign to expand and enhance HALO facilities and programs.

“HALO is an organization that really demonstrates how to give a hand up to our neighbors in need,” said Kim Nechay, executive director of the Perdue Foundation. “At Perdue, we are proud to help them advance their mission and to provide greater resources to those in the tri-county area who are struggling.
“Through our donations of protein to their soup kitchen, a financial contribution to their construction projects and facilitating associate volunteers to serve in their programs, we are trying to help in a variety of ways. So many in our world today are just one paycheck or two away from homelessness or hunger. We want to do all we can to help in the communities we call home,” said Nechay.
